Tidna Limited ("Tidna," "we," "us," or "our") operates a platform that connects African startup founders with vetted investors. This policy explains what personal and business data we collect from founders and investors who use Tidna, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It's written to comply with Nigeria's Data Protection Act, 2023 (NDPA).

1. Who we are

Tidna Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. If you have questions about how we handle your data, contact us at snumari@tidna.co.

2. What data we collect

We collect different data depending on whether you sign up as a founder or an investor.

If you're a founder, we collect:

  • Identity and contact details — name, email address, phone number.
  • Company information — company name, elevator pitch, industry, headquarters location, founding date, product stage, funding stage, and logo.
  • Business and traction data — revenue, users, monthly active users, growth rate, churn, net promoter score, partnerships, runway, target raise amount, and funding already secured.
  • Unit economics — customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and pricing, where you choose to provide them.
  • Documents — pitch decks, financial models, financial reports, and cap tables you upload or link to us.
  • Bank account and transaction data — only if you choose to connect a bank account (see Section 3 below).
  • Payment records — confirmation that a payment was made and its status, not your card or bank login details (see Section 4).
  • Communications — the content of messages and investor updates you send through Tidna, and delivery signals (whether an email was opened or a link inside it was clicked).

If you're an investor, we collect:

  • Identity and professional details — name, work email, firm name, LinkedIn profile, investor type, typical check size, and your geography, sector, and stage focus.
  • Activity on the platform — which founder profiles you view, and messages you send to founders.

3. Bank account data (Mono)

Connecting a bank account is entirely optional. Founders who choose to verify their traction data by connecting a bank account do so through Mono, a licensed open banking provider. Mono handles the actual bank connection and credential exchange — we never see or store your bank login details.

Once connected, we receive transaction-level data (dates, amounts, direction, narration, and category) from Mono, which we use to calculate verified metrics like monthly recurring revenue, growth, and runway. Some transactions may be reviewed manually (by you or, in ambiguous cases, flagged for your review) to confirm their classification. Not connecting a bank account does not prevent you from using Tidna — verification is a badge investors can weigh, not a requirement for using the platform.

4. Payment data (Paystack)

Payments on Tidna (such as the one-time investor-matching unlock fee) are processed by Paystack. We never receive or store your card number, bank account number, or payment PIN — Paystack handles that directly and shares back only a confirmation of success or failure, which we record against your account.

5. Why we collect it

  • To create and operate your account, and to calculate your investor-readiness score.
  • To match founders with investors whose stated thesis fits, and to let investors evaluate opportunities.
  • To verify traction data when you choose to connect a bank account, and to flag transactions that need your review.
  • To process payments for platform features you choose to purchase.
  • To deliver messages and investor updates you send, and to show you whether they were opened or acted on.
  • To improve the platform, secure it against misuse, and comply with our legal obligations.

Our legal basis for this processing is your consent (given at signup and at each point you choose to share further data, such as connecting a bank account), and, where applicable, the performance of our contract with you as a registered user of the platform.

6. Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it in these specific circumstances:

  • With investors or founders you choose to engage with — a founder's profile, traction data, and documents become visible to investors once shared (via the data room link, or once matched, depending on the module); an investor's outreach becomes visible to the founder they contact.
  • Mono — to establish and maintain a bank connection you initiate, and to retrieve transaction data for verification.
  • Paystack — to process payments you initiate.
  • Resend — to deliver emails (messages and investor updates) on our behalf, and to report delivery, open, and click events back to us.
  • Supabase — our database and file storage provider, which hosts the data described in this policy on our behalf.
  • Netlify — our hosting provider, which serves the Tidna application.
  • Legal or regulatory authorities — if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Tidna, our users, or others.

Each of these providers only receives the data necessary to perform their specific function for us, and is bound by their own data protection obligations.

7. Public data room links

Tidna lets founders generate a shareable data room link to send directly to investors outside the platform. Anyone with that link can view whatever modules you've chosen to share (pitch deck, traction data, financial documents, and so on) — the link itself, not a login, is what controls access. Treat it the way you'd treat any document you're sharing directly: only send it to people you intend to see that information, and regenerate your link if you believe it's been shared beyond who you intended.

8. How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution obligations. If you delete your account, we'll remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're required to retain it by law (for example, payment records for tax purposes).

9. Your rights

Under the NDPA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent — for example, disconnecting your bank account at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your data has been mishandled.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at snumari@tidna.co. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage, access controls limiting who at Tidna can view sensitive data, and secure connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — if we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you and the NDPC as required by law.

11. Children's data

Tidna is intended for founders and investors who are at least 18 years old. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

12. Cookies

We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate the platform securely — we don't currently use third-party advertising or analytics cookies. Emails we send (messages and investor updates) may include a small tracking pixel and tracked links so we can show you whether they were opened or clicked; this is limited to emails sent through Tidna and doesn't track your activity elsewhere.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Tidna's features change. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.

14. Contact us
